This girl is done! I'm not sure how different she looks from the "work in progress" shot on my easel. I attempted to soften some of the transitions but I find that I like seeing the angles created by light and am reluctant to lose too much of them. So there you are!
Well I haven’t posted any of my figure studies in a while, but I’m liking where this one is at. I’ll work on it a bit more but without reference it might be a doomed effort. I’ve had a surplus of cardboard laying around so I’ve been cutting it up and putting a layer of gesso on to use for quick studies. Fun!
This is a small study of a Carolina Chickadee. These mini pieces are a lot of fun to work on but finding the small wood boards are not easy. So I had a neighbor cut down a larger piece for me and now I have a whole stack of 3x3 in. pieces to play around with. More to come! I love the uniformed simplicity of calla lilies. This is an early study of one of the many that populate my neighborhood. I like the way the brush strokes are so visible. AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE;
This is a moment where I caught my young nephew engrossed in a movie. Who'd of thunk that someday we'd be watching full movies whilst dining at a restaurant? I enjoyed working on this piece and keeping the loose detail just within the glow of the phone screen.
In the fall you can find all sorts of beautiful vegetables at the market. I don't know exactly what type of gourd this is but I found it in a basket with all the other "pumpkin-like" produce. And how did I get it to stand at attention you ask? Museum mount.
Meet Bailey. This was a commissioned piece I did for one of Bailey's moms (Bailey has 3!) This lucky pup is a rescue who is shared between 2 households that live across the street from each other. She receives more than enough love every day.
Three Pears - 6x6 - oil on wood panel So... two years later. Another post! I've spent the time painting, experimenting and posting on instagram. And now I'm trying something new again. This piece is available on Daily Paintworks. https://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/kim-zimmerman-9998 I will be posting more paintings as I go along and figure out this new format! #learningcurve
